Salesforce Nonproft Starter Pack

salesforce for non-profitsOne of the great pleasures we have at akaCRM is working with non-profit organizations (NPOs). Salesforce.com has become a great solution for NPOs as the Salesforce.com Foundation provides a donation of 10 free salesforce.com Enterprise Edition CRM licenses to NPOs. For many NPOs, this donation may cover all of the staff that need licenses. For larger NPOs, the Salesforce.com Foundation provides deep discounts (and we do mean deep) for additional licenses. In either case, as an NPO, you must decide between using the Salesforce CRM configuration or the Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Starter Pack when signing up for your license donation. The Nonprofit Start Pack, simply put, is a template of a Salesforce CRM configuration that is typical to many NPOs. The following is guidance in making this selection.

If you are going to be using akaCRM or another partner, we high recommend starting with just the "Salesforce CRM" configuration (do not select the Nonprofit Starter Pack). If you are working with a partner, they will want greater control over the implementation and while installing the Nonprofit Starter Pack is not wrong, it will require your partner spend time uninstalling and removing certain components, potentially increasing the cost of the project.  On the other hand, if you are doing the deployment yourself, you may want to select the Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Starter Pack to accelerate your experience. If you have a very strong salesforce.com configuration background, then exclude the Starter Pack.
