Twitter Clients

A Twitter Client is a piece of software that is used to interface with a user's Twitter account and provides a more useful user interface (UI) for power users and users with higher activity levels. You could simply open your browser window and browse to http://www.twitter.com and make your Twitter posts (aka Tweets) and update your status or search for other posts at http://search.twitter.com, but if you want to manage multiple searches, enhancements to the UI are necessary. Twitter clients run on many platforms, including Windows, Mac OSX, iPhones, Blackberries and other devices. Bottom line - they are there to help you more efficiently implement your Twitter strategy, what ever that may be.
According to the November 2009 issue of Website Magazine, some of the most popular Mac OSX Twitter Clients include:
| Rank | Client | % of Users |
| 1 | TweetDeck (tweetdeck.com) | 13.07% |
| 2 | Tweetie (atebits.com) | 7.47% |
| 3 | HootSuite (hootsuite.com | 2.46% |
| 4 | Twhirl (twhirl.org) | 2.42% |
| 5 | Twitterfon (twitterfon.net) | 1.98% |
| 6 | Seesmic (seesmic.com) | 1.82% |
| 7 | Ping.fm (ping.fm) | 1.75% |
| 8 | Uber Twitter (ubertwitter.com) | 1.28% |
| 9 | Twitterific (twitterific.com) | 1.20% |
| 10 | TwitterFox (twitterfox.net) | 1.18% |
For the iPhone, I'm personally a fan of Tweetie. Coming in 2nd and 3rd place for the iPhone are the Twitterific iPhone client and Nambu, respectively.
