Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack
One of the great pleasures we have at akaCRM is working with nonprofit organizations (NPOs). Salesforce has become a great solution for NPOs as the Salesforce.org provides a donation of 10 free Salesforce Enterprise Edition CRM licenses to NPOs. For many NPOs, this donation may cover all of the staff that need licenses. For larger NPOs, Salesforce.org provides deep discounts (and we do mean deep) for additional licenses. In either case, as an NPO, you must decide between using the Salesforce CRM configuration or the Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) when signing up for your license donation. The Nonprofit Success Pack, simply put, is a template of a Salesforce CRM configuration that is typical to many NPOs. The following is guidance in making this selection.
As an NPO, you must decide between using the Salesforce CRM configuration or the Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Success Pack when signing up for your license donation. The Nonprofit Success Pack provides a predefined template of configuration based on if you are supporting a higher education or nonprofit organization. This allows for flexibility to build Salesforce out to meet the needs and goals of your organization out-of-the-box without the need for heavy customization.
If your use case includes managing donations, we think the Nonprofit Success Pack is a really great place to start. The Nonprofit Success Pack easily serves as a great foundation for other nonprofit donation tools such as Brickwork to collect credit card and check payments through website integration. The Success Pack includes custom objects and fields geared toward streamlining the collection of donations on a donor level or through targeted campaigns.
Managing volunteers is also easier with the Nonprofit Success Pack. Using the free Volunteers for Salesforce application integrated with Salesforce, you can create volunteer signup forms, integrate volunteer signup with your website, and track volunteer hours all within Salesforce (and mostly without the need for custom development!). You can also be proactive in soliciting volunteers for your events by targeting volunteers using the volunteer data you have stored in Salesforce. The app also allows you to easily assign shifts and jobs to volunteers with just a few clicks!
If you are going to be using akaCRM or another partner, we highly recommend speak with your partner to validate your choice. If you are working with a partner, they may want greater control over the implementation and while installing the Nonprofit Success Pack is not wrong, it could require your partner to spend time uninstalling and removing certain components, potentially increasing the cost of the project if they are not needed. On the other hand, if you are doing the deployment yourself, OR if the included configuration is a good match for your needs, you may want to select the Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Success Pack to accelerate your experience.
